Hello! My name is Ms. Baird and this is my 4th year teaching 5th grade English Language Arts. This is my second year at Wilburn Elementary. I was teaching in Durham County before finding my home here at Wilburn.

I attended East Carolina University to get my Bachelors of Science in Education. Go Pirates! I also attended Northern high School and Riverside High School in Durham before attending ECU.

I am very close to my mom, Tammy, who works in Morrisville as a Financial Analyst in RTP. She has been my biggest fan and supported me to become who I am today. Moms are the real MVP! My aunt, Jody, is a general Contractor and licensed realtor in Durham who has brought me in to help flip houses during track out breaks. She is one tough lady who just brought my new baby cousin into this world on August 6, 2017. My grandmother lives close by in Durham so that we can all help her live with Alzheimer's and Dementia. I have always had step siblings in Oklahoma where my father currently lives. We all talk as often as we can since traveling is hard for us financially. Of course my dog, Nala, is a huge part of my family. I rescued and adopted her in march of 2016. She was a bait puppy and in bad condition. She is now a happy 2 year old puppy! She is still battling some issues though. She had surgery on her right knee in February due to torn CCLs (cranial crucial ligaments). We are waiting to have her left knee done when she is finally 100% better on her right knee. before the surgery, it was impossible for her to walk up our 3 flights of stairs, jump into the car or even on to the couch. She was always crying and struggled to get up from laying down. Now she is jumping and playing most of the time.
