Who sponsors the run club?
The HSES Soccer Club is a PTA sponsored club. Please "like" them on Facebook by searching, Holly Springs Elementary School PTA. You are also welcome to join the PTA to help support the HSES Soccer Club and other PTA efforts and activities.
What are the student behavior expectations?
Students must be prepared to participate in practice each Wednesday and follow the school’s SPOT expectations. Participants must demonstrate responsibility by attending practices, bringing all items needed to play, turning in a Change of Transportation note, getting prepared to practice at school dismissal, and listening for and following instructions. Participants must demonstrate a positive attitude by being respectful to coaches and adult volunteers, speaking kindly to other students, and by giving their best effort during each practice.
What do I wear?
Students will need to wear soccer cleats, shin guards, socks, shorts/pants (check the weather) and shirt. If students can wear his/her soccer clothes to school each Wednesday, it will make the transition to Soccer Club much quicker. Students who are not wearing appropriate footwear (sandals, dress shoes, etc) will not be allowed to practice due to safety concerns.
What do I bring?
Students should bring with them to school any soccers clothes they are not wearing, shin guards/cleats, a water bottle, a snack, a change of transportation note, and a positive attitude.
Where do I go after school dismissal?
If the student normally takes the bus, carpool, or walks home from school he/she will need a change of transportation note stating that they are to remain at the school after dismissal to participate in the Soccer Club. Students who normally attend an after school care program will need an After School Program Dismissal form. Students who do not bring in a note will not be able to attend practice and will be sent home using their regular mode of transportation. Official Soccer Club dismissal notes were/will be sent home with students prior to the first practice.
Students are to remain in their classroom until they hear the Soccer club called for dismissal. This time in class can be used to eat their snack, change into running clothes or shoes, use the restroom, fill water bottles, and any other preparations needed to get ready to run.
When students are called for dismissal for soccer club, they will receive instructions on where to go over the loudspeaker. Students who are tracked out should report to the main lobby by 4:00 pm and then meet at their check in hallway if they wish to participate in practice.
What if I am in After School?
After School students should report to the program as normal and will be dismissed to run club after role has been taken. After school students will also be checked out through the program, not through run club.
What if I need to check my child out early from run club?
We will NOT be able to handle early check outs during practice sessions. If you know that a student will not be able to attend the entire practice, they should not attend practice that day.
How do I pick my child up from soccer club?
When picking up a child from soccer practice, parents must enter the building through the main entrance of the school. Students will be lined up in the hallways of the school during pick up. Students with last name A-G can be picked up in the 1st grade hallway, H-N in the 2nd grade hallway, and P-Z in the Kindergarten hallway. Parents will report to the correct hallway where they will sign out and pick up their child. Please note that parents MUST have a Photo ID in hand to pick up a student at every practice!
After School students will be picked up as normal through the After School program.
What happens in the event of inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather on a practice day, parents will receive an email and a phone call by noon notifying them of practice cancellation. Coaches will use weather predictions just before noon to make the decision to cancel or hold practices. If a practice is cancelled, students will be sent home after dismissal using their normal mode of transportation.
How can parents volunteer?
Thank you to those parents who have signed up as volunteers for this year's soccer club. If you would like to attend soccer club practices as a volunteer, please make sure to stop by the school immediately and register as a volunteer. All volunteers must be registered to be in the school. We appreciate all the help we can get to make this year a success. You can sign up under the Coaches/Volunteer page on the HSES soccer club website. Coaches who are registered and signed up to volunteer should meet the team on the soccer field behind the school each week.
What if I have questions?
Parents are encouraged to send a note with the child to communicate with HSES soccer club coaches. Parents may also email _________with questions. Phone calls to the school related to HSES Soccer Club should be only for emergency situations.
