Please check out the weekly slides on Canvas to access our warm-ups, agendas for class, and any resources necessary for the given week. I would encourage all families to make sure they know how to log into Wake ID Portal, as Canvas is accessed via this platform. This will allow families to stay informed on digital files/lessons posted there. Reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Rachel Lawrence is a mother, teacher, and coach. She is a native of Northeast Ohio, growing up in a large family of eight (herself a triplet) in a small farm town. Since 2008, she has called North Carolina home after attending college at High Point University, drawn by the warmer weather!
She graduated with a degree in Middle Grades Education and followed it with a Master's in Educational Leadership in 2016. Over the past 15 years, she has taught grades 6-8 in WCPSS and Rowan-Salisbury Schools. Her classroom philosophy is rooted in problem-based learning, encouraging students to learn through technology, creativity, and inquiry.
When not in the classroom, she extends her leadership by leading professional development for teachers across the state and nation. She has presented and facilitated at AMLE, ALA, NCMLE, the US Learning Forum, the Triangle Coalition for STEM Education, and several other conferences. Moreover, her advocacy also extends in supporting neurodivergent students, shaped profoundly by her son's journey navigating Autism and ADHD.
Beyond school, she enjoys spending time with her energetic boys, 9-year-old Emerson and 6-year-old Grayson. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, running, reading, and playing tennis (she even coached tennis for several years!)
With that being said, she is eager to meet your child and help make this school year a memorable one!
