The skills your child will learn in music will help them be successful on the stage, in the classroom, and for the rest of their lives. At Heritage Middle School, students thrive in their band and core classes, often achieving high marks on their EOG's. We learn skills in leadership, self/time management, and responsibility through the medium of music.
At Heritage Middle School, beginning band students can play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, or percussion. After the first concert, a limited number of students are able to switch to oboe, bassoon, tenor or baritone saxophone, french horn, or tuba. These instruments (except tenor sax) are owned by the school and leased to students.
You should join band. 100% I recommend it. You can make new friends and have fun with them. There are fun trips, concerts, and pep band games to play at. Plus instruments and music in general make you smarter. Have fun in band with your fellow classmates. -Emily P.
I joined the band because ... you're about to join a class that isn't like everyone else. The next class is one of the best opportunities to meet new friends, new talents and new opportunities for the future. IT'S THE BAND! It is a very fun class led by an excellent teacher, intelligent and willing to help their students get ahead with music. -Carlos G.
Join band if you want to be in a welcoming fun class that lets you learn and have fun at the same time. You find new friends and form a group with the people you are with for 3 years. -Camden A.
Band is the most awesome elective y'all can take. You make a lot of long lasting friends. Also there is also some extracurricular activities like pep band and Jazz band. It lets you explore different feels of music. Also those extracurricular activities are so much fun... Also y'all do go on a trip with band in 8th grade. This is why y'all should join 6th grade band. It sets the foundation for the best experience of your lives. -Dylan M.
It’s really fun to learn an instrument and sharing the experience with other peers. You make lots a make a lot of friends along the way. You won’t regret it after. -Jourden S.
You should join Band in 6th grade because learning an instrument opens so many new doors for you. I had many friends in 8th grade that wished they would of joined Band in 6th grade, but it was too late. When I first joined Band I made some of my best friends in that class that I was guaranteed to have a class with every year. When I was a 5th grader, I was scared because I didn’t have any other friends who were taking the elective as well. My parents pushed me to do it and everything turned out fine. I made one of my best friends whom I’m not sure we would of been as close if it wasn’t for Band. Last but not least, the 8th grade trip is one to remember. Some years they go to Disney and other years it a theme park but either way it is some of the best memories you will make in middle school. Of course you want to know about the band teacher for HMS because he’s the one who is teaching your class! Well don’t worry because Mr Stauffer is one the best teachers I’ve had in middle school and he teaches you a lot more than music. Band is a great decision if you are not sure where you fit in at middle school and want to make some fast friends. I hope you join band! -Lilly H.
