Hello Everyone!
Yea!!! We made it to Spring Break! I hope the weather allows everyone to get outside (even for a bit) to get some sunshine and Vitamin D! The 2nd grade teachers are busy recording (or working on figuring that out) lessons so that we can start our actual 'online learning' next week. We sincerely hope that you and your families are well. If you find that you need resources or help, please let your child's teacher know so that they can put you in touch with one of our counselors or social worker to expedite those needs.
2 good quotes for the week:
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Abraham Lincoln
Take each day one at at time. Prioritize your family's needs. Forgive yourself for mistakes or misjudgments. Look for something good everyday!
If you want your children to listen, try talking softly to someone else. Ann Landers
Children do need to listen to you, however, they do not need to be a part of adult conversations. I am sure that this will linger on for them beyond memories for staying at home. Help them understand what is going on at their level of comprehension. I was at home watching the news and saw the plane crash into the second tower of the World Trade Center. My oldest daughter was almost 11. My children came home from school confused and with a lot of questions. I had to let them know what happened but I did not let them watch the images. It was too disturbing for young children. Just as with this, they need to know that there is a virus that is making a lot of people sick, but there are precautions in place to keep people safe. They do not need to watch the news, nor see images of so many people in hospitals or worse. Be honest, take into account their age and ability to process scary information.
