Meet Your Teachers

I am Mrs. Keane, and I am thrilled to be teaching ESL at Highcroft. I joined the staff here in the spring of 2021. I previously taught Technology at another Wake County elementary school.

I grew up in Chapel Hill, and I am a huge Tar Heels fan! I live in Raleigh with my husband and two children. I studied Romance Languages at UNC, and I got my Master's Degree in ESL from Meredith.

My favorite things to do are cooking (and eating!), reading, and playing soccer.

I love teaching English to multilingual learners because I learn so much from them. Each student shows me a new way to look at the world.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Castaneda and I am so happy to be one of Highcroft's ESL teachers this school year. Although this is my first year teaching ESL, I have spent the last eight years teaching fourth grade here at Highcroft. I am originally from New York. I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a degree in childhood and special education. Prior to moving to North Carolina I taught special education in NY in 4th and 5th grade. I live in Apex with my husband and two children who are one and three years old.

I am looking forward to helping students improve in their English language skills this school year!
