Meet Mrs. Helms

Welcome! My name is Mrs. Helms, and I will be your 1st grade teacher! My husband, Richie, and I have twin girls, Ava and Ella. They will be Fourth Graders at Brassfield! We also have 2 puppies named Rocky & Rex!

I was born and raised in New York and moved to Raleigh in search of warmer temperatures. I received my Bachelor's Degree with dual certification in both Elementary and Special Education from SUNY Plattsburgh.

I am currently a graduate student at East Carolina University earning my Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy. (Go Pirates!) I have been teaching since 2002 and I have been teaching at Brassfield since 2011. I am excited for a great year together!
