I am so excited to join the Harris Creek team! Prior to coming to HCES, I have worked as a counselor and administrator at private and online schools, as well as interned at a few schools in the Triangle. I am originally from New York but have lived in the south for about 10 years now! I received both my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and my Master's Degree in School Counseling from Liberty University. I became a school counselor because I am passionate about making a difference in the school system and the community, but more than anything, I love building relationships with students to provide safety and support at school. In my free time, I like to practice yoga, write music, or play scrabble with my wonderful boyfriend. I also love to travel as much as I can and am a big fan of the outdoors. Antes de llegar a HCES, trabajé como consejero y administrador en escuelas privadas y en línea, así como también hice prácticas en algunas escuelas en el Triángulo. Soy originario de Nueva York, ¡pero he vivido en el sur durante unos 10 años! Recibí mi Licenciatura en Psicología y mi Maestría en Consejería Escolar de Liberty University. I am looking forward to meeting all my HCES eagles this year! While this is my first year at HCES, it is my 24th year in public education. After earning my bachelor's degree at Purdue University, I started my career as a middle school English/Language Arts teacher, then earned my M.Ed in counseling at NC State University. While at NCSU, I worked as an academic advisor before settling down as a high school counselor. For the past 15 years I have loved my life as a high school counselor and am now very excited to start a new chapter working with elementary aged students. My hope is that I can help my students develop positive relationships with others, build a repertoire of useful coping skills for healthy, emotional regulation.

When I am not at school, you can find me hanging out with my husband and daughter riding bikes, swimming, and traveling. I also love reading, writing, and watching and rooting for the Carolina Hurricanes and the Purdue Boilermakers!

¡Estoy deseando conocer a todas mis águilas HCES este año! Si bien este es mi primer año en HCES, es mi vigésimo cuarto año en la educación pública. Después de obtener mi licenciatura en Purdue University, comencé mi carrera como maestra de inglés / artes del lenguaje en la escuela secundaria, luego obtuve mi maestría en educación en consejería en NC State University. Mientras estaba en NCSU, trabajé como asesor académico antes de establecerme como consejero de la escuela secundaria. Durante los últimos 15 años he amado mi vida como consejero de la escuela secundaria y ahora estoy muy emocionado de comenzar un nuevo capítulo trabajando con estudiantes de primaria. Mi esperanza es poder ayudar a mis estudiantes a desarrollar relaciones positivas con los demás, construir un repertorio de habilidades de afrontamiento útiles para una regulación emocional saludable.

Cuando no estoy en la escuela, puedes encontrarme saliendo con mi esposo y mi hija montando bicicleta, nadando y viajando. ¡También me encanta leer, escribir y observar y apoyar a los Carolina Hurricanes y los Purdue Boilermakers!
