Weekly Updates

Week of Feb. 8th, 2021

I hope this email finds you and your family doing well.

I want to first introduce myself as your child's AP Statistics teacher this semester. I am excited to have your child in my class and I am looking forward to a great semester.

This is the first of many weekly emails to keep you informed of what's happening in class each week. Please make sure to check PowerSchool on a weekly basis to stay informed with your child's progress in the class. This week students will take the unit 2 test on Tuesday and then we will begin our study on Collecting Data. see below a list of the learning objectives for the rest of the week.

• Identify the population and sample in a sample survey

• Identify voluntary response samples and convenience samples

• Describe how to use a table of random digits to select a simple random sample (SRS)

• Describe simple random samples, stratified random samples, and cluster samples

• Explain how undercoverage, nonresponse, and question wording can lead to bias in a sample survey

• Distinguish observational studies from experiments

• Describe the language of experiments

• Apply the three principles of experimental design

• Design comparative experiments utilizing completely randomized designs and randomized block designs, including matched pairs design
