Career Academy Coordinator: Medical Bioscience Academy
I have been teaching and working as an athletic trainer at Enloe since 2012. I taught Health Science for 10 years before taking over as the Medical Bio-science Academy (MBSA) Coordinator in 2022. As the MBSA coordinator, my job is to provide enriching experiences that allow students to explore STEM careers through industry tours, college tours, job shadowing, internships, grade-level projects, hands-on skill sessions, and community service. As one of the athletic trainers at Enloe, I also help provide medical coverage to Enloe's athletic teams.
I am originally from Ohio and lived for a few years in California before coming to North Carolina. I did my undergrad and grad at Wright State University double majoring in Athletic Training and Health, Physical Education & Recreation. I also was a collegiate athlete and played softball for the Wright State Raiders. For grad school, I worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer and teacher assistant finishing with a master's degree in Athletic Training & Physical Education. I have been teaching 19 years (9 years in Nash County, NC - Southern Nash High School and 10 years in Wake County, NC - 2 years at Knightdale High School and 8 years at Enloe). I had 15 years of drafting experience before returning to college to complete my education degree.

I am married and I have 2 grown sons. Both of my children have taken an active interest in the arts, following my lead in their career choices. My oldest child has a degree in Graphic Design and my youngest son is a professional tattoo artist.
My philosophy of Education:
I believe it is my responsibility to help prepare my students for life in today's competitive society, exposing my students to a vast array of information that will instill a great desire for learning in each and every one. Necessary skills and information should be taught in order to prepare the students for a successful transition into their adult lives. Many students leave the security of their schools not having a clue of how the "real world" operates. Career & Technical Education classes give students hands-on experience that will enable them to explore possible career options. After working in the competitive workplace for 15 years before entering education, I have seen the need for training in the vocational fields. I know what the employer expects from their employees and I try to instill this in my students by preparing them to transition into the workplace. Getting them to understand the importance of critical thinking, good problem-solving skills, meeting deadlines, being reliable, possessing "soft skills", and just knowing how to function successfully in the workplace are big goals I have for my students. Every child should have an opportunity to experience an education that will have a positive effect on the rest of their life. Regardless of cultural background or diverse learning needs, each student should be given the chance to reach their full potential.

Career Academy Coordinator: Academy of Creative Design
I’m Ms. Spruill, coordinator for Enloe’s Academy of Creative Design, a career academy for students pursuing digital design careers. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Hospitality Management from East Carolina University and a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language.
After undergraduate school, I traveled around Europe for seven months and worked as an au pair in Switzerland for three months. That experience fueled my passion for working with students from different cultures, prompting me to earn my master’s degree. I then taught ESL to Hospitality majors at Bilkent University in Turkey before moving to Pittsburgh, PA, where I taught ESL at Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne University, and the University of Pittsburgh.
After four years in Pennsylvania, I returned to North Carolina and began my high school teaching career at Garner Magnet High School, where I taught ESL and English for twelve years. I then returned to my nutrition background and taught Food and Nutrition at Panther Creek High School for six years. I’m thrilled to now be at Enloe High, where I work with creative students, providing exciting experiences to help them discover their passion and prepare for their future.

Curriculum and Instructional Management Coordinator
Hello, I'm Carlos Sousa. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Instructional Design and Technology, both from Liberty University. "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life."
Biomedical Technology, Health Science I
I have been teaching Science/Health Science at Enloe for 5 years and have been in public education for 9 years. I am very passionate about the Biological Sciences and enjoy bringing my expertise in this area into the Health Science department. Unlike most of my colleagues who teach in the Health Sciences, I do not have a background in Healthcare. I believe that my unique background as a Biology specialist and Earth Science teacher gives me a unique viewpoint to offer my students. It also allows me to dive deeply into the specifics of Biomedical Technology classes where some teachers might feel out of their element. I also feel that my background in Conservation Biology and Ecology helps me to teach my students about the connection between human health and the greater world around us. It also allows me to delve deeply into the effects of Genetics and Evolution on public health.
I attended East Carolina University and graduated with a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Ecology and Evolution. During that time, I married my Mr. Wright and we had our first son. Starting my family early solidified my desire to pursue teaching rather than going into research and I haven't regretted that decision. When I saw the opportunity to join the Enloe family in 2021 I jumped at it, and I am so glad that I did. I achieved National Board Certification in 2023 in Health education which only deepened my dedication and love of teaching.
My husband and I live East of Raleigh with our three awesome children and two cats. We love to be outside in nature, working out and reading to our kids. We are also very active members of our church community. Teaching is more than a job to me; it is my calling in life. I believe that it takes more than knowledge and rules to teach children, it also takes a lot of love and understanding. I hope that my students leave my class knowing that someone cares about them and believes wholeheartedly that they can change the world for the better.
