Late / Make Up Work Policy (From the WMS Handbook)
Students may submit late work (classwork, projects, and quizzes) up until the summative assessment for a unit of study.
10% Deduction for each day an assignment is late (up to 50% deduction).
Students who are absent on the day that the work is assigned will be given the equal number of days absent to complete the assignment upon return to school. Special consideration will be given to students with longer absences due to extraordinary circumstances.
Students who are present on the day the work is assigned but absent on the day it is due, must turn in the assignment on the day he or she returns to school.
** It is the student's responsibility to determine and complete make-up work. **
Students should access the daily slides posted on Canvas in the daily announcement at the end of their date of absence to determine which activities need to be completed. Paper handouts are available on the student resource table in the classroom, as appropriate.
Cheating / Plagiarism
Plagiarism can include:
Copying part or all of another student's work
Copying sentences, paragraphs, or whole texts from the internet or a book/article without citing the source
Copying another's work but changing a few words/replacing key terms with synonyms
Claiming another person's work, ideas, and/or words as one's own is not only unfair to the owner of the content, but it also cheats the learner out of receiving the help that he/she may need to truly understand and master the content that we are learning.
Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated in this class! If a student is found to be copying another student's work or copying words/ideas from the internet or another source, students will not receive credit for the assignment, and parents/guardians will be contacted. Alternative assignments may be given for students to complete in place of the assignment that they cheated on/plagiarized.
