(Est: March 2011)
What is the Beta CLUB
The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for you to develop strong interpersonal skills.
The National Beta Club Mission Statement
To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.
Becoming a member of the DRMS Beta CLUB
Initial selection of potential members is based on a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 for both first and second quarters (no C's, D's, or F's included in GPA). Teachers (including all teachers who work with students) then make recommendations based on DRMS characteristics (Dedicated, Respectful, Mindful & Safe). Upon meeting both the academic and DRMS criteria included above, eligible sixth-grade students will then receive an invitation to the Beta Club.
Qualifications for membership to the DRMS Beta Club

· Completed “DRMS” Teacher recommendations
· Attend DRMS for at least a semester
· Completed Application returned on time

Guidelines for continued membership in the DRMS Beta CLUB
· Maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 at all times

· No discipline referrals resulting in Alternative Learning Center (ALC) or Out of School School (OSS). Both ALC or OSS results in immediate dismissal from the Beta Club)
· Attendance in monthly meetings

· Continued participation in extra-curricular/community service in/out of school.
· Violations of the guidelines may result in probation or immediate dismissal from the Beta Club
Member Commitment: a member, a student is obligated to promote the ideals of the National Beta Club mission statement in the areas of academic achievement, exemplary character, and service and leadership skills at all times.
If in the event a student's grades or conduct do not meet the guidelines for continued membership, he/she will be placed on probation for nine weeks/quarter. At the end of the period, students’ conduct/grades will be reviewed for determination of status in the Beta CLUB. After two probationary periods, a student will be dismissed from the Beta CLUB if their grade and/or conduct do not improve. In this event, students will receive a notification letter.
