Query an essential question. Create a KLW.
Brainstorm possible search terms or keywords.
Sort your questions into categories.
Evaluate and identify your guiding questions. What exactly do I want to research and answer?
Using reliable resources, students investigate and search for answers to their guiding questions.
Use online databases for research such as NC WiseOwl or Discovery Education.
Use trusted search engines to locate information of the web like Webpath Express.
Use your school's library or your local public library to find print sources.
Keep a record of information using Google Docs, ppt or pencil and paper!
Use a graphic organizer to organize your research notes. Evaluate and reflect of what you have learned. Are you answering your essential question?
Students need to pull all their notes and resources together to begin drafting a product which showcases their research. How can they show they have answered their guiding question?
If working in teams, collaboratively summarize collected information.
By yourself, use a storyboard for drafting, designing and creating your presentation.
Give credit for information using tools like Citation Machine or NCSU Citation Maker.
Evaluate and reflect on what you have learned.
Use presentation tools such as Google Slides, Educreations, ShowMe or Paper Slides
Create video using iMovie, Aniomoto ( teachers can apply for a free educational account ), Voicethread
