I am so EXCITED to teach the NC Healthful Living curriculum to your precious children. PE classes will play an important role in their physical and social development. I do my very best to give your child the best instruction possible.
What is PE all about?
Students in grades K-2 will learn fundamental motor skills and Grades 3-5 will engage in more complex skills and strategies through team sports and recreational activities. All students will be involved in Fitness activities in the fall and again in the spring. PE class is fertile ground to help students develop a growth mindset, learn about nutrition and practice the 21st Century Skills of collaboration, communication, critical and creative thinking. Grade level academics and technology are integrated into my classes.
How can you help your child succeed?
Appropriate dress and footwear support your child's successful movement in the PE classroom. I ask that children wear comfortable clothing, shorts under dresses and sneakers or closed toe sandals with a sneaker-like sole (like those made by "Keen").
Please no "Crocs", Flip Flops or "Heels"!
When is My PE Day?
The schedule changes quite often. Typically, classroom teachers post the Specials schedule on their websites and some write it each week on their board in their classroom. Older students are encouraged to track their own schedule in their agendas. The Specialists schedule is also posted on the OCE Homepage.
Excused PE
If students are unable to particiapate in PE due to a medical reason, please send in a note. If participation needs to be excused for more than 2 classes, please send along a note from the doctor with instruction/guidelines for safe participation and dates. Help us keep your child safe!
