During remote learning, students will continue to be evaluated on their mastery of standards. We will continue to track progress so that we can record evidence of student learning and provide personalized support needed for each student. Teachers will be providing feedback to students on all submitted work by Friday of each week. If a student does not complete an activity, that student will receive an “M” (missing) on each standard associated with the activity. This is a reminder that the work has not been completed. Students are expected to complete all assigned tasks as time permits.
Each Friday, students will receive pre-recorded instruction and assigned tasks for the upcoming week. This work will be posted in Empower. Additionally, a “Week-at-a-Glance” update will be shared with parents on Talking Points and on our team site (bit.ly/cmms7innovate). The “Week-at-a-Glance” update will include a broad overview of what students will be working on for each core class that week.
To access work, students should login to Empower. The website for Empower is: carroll.empowerlearning.net. Students access this website by logging in with their Google accounts. Any parent who has not yet accessed Empower, and/or needs login information, please let us know here.
Optional Office Hours are offered daily. During this time, students will get immediate email responses from teachers and also have the option to pop in a Google Meet with the teacher. ELA and Social Studies office hours are 1-2 PM daily. Math and Science office hours are 2-3 PM daily. Google Meet codes are listed below.
When students receive their work for the upcoming week, it is expected that they preview and begin working on the assignments independently. In particular, students should begin Core 1 work on Friday when they receive it so that they are ready to discuss the content and ask questions during their scheduled Google Meet on Monday.
Teachers will closely monitor attendance, participation, engagement, and behavior throughout each week. This means that students should be completing work, engaging in the tasks provided, and checking-in with their teachers during the Google Meet times.
Students should refer to the schedule on the next page to know which classes they will be focusing on each day. There are two specific work times for each class. During one of the work times, students will engage in a virtual Google Meet with their teacher. During the other assigned time slot, students are expected to work independently using materials and resources provided by their teachers.
In addition to the scheduled class times, students can and should reach out to their teachers via email or Talking Points with any questions they have while working. Teachers may also reach out to students and parents to schedule specific times during afternoon office hours or on Fridays. These flexible times provide opportunities to schedule further support based on student need.
