The Positivity Project

THE MISSION OF THE POSITIVITY PROJECT IS TO EMPOWER AMERICA’S YOUTH TO BUILD POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS AND BECOME THEIR BEST SELVES.

Why relationships? Because they are the cornerstone of health, happiness, and resilience…and (according to experts) many jobs of the future. That is why the P2 strategy used in schools inspires positive relationships (student-to-student and student-to-teacher) and cultivates a school-wide Other People Mindset.

As a P2 Partner School, we spend time every day learning about, discussing, reflecting on, and sharing about the Other People Matter Mindset and the 24 Character Strengths identified in Positive Psychology.  We hold fast to the fact, which has been proven through extensive research, that all humans on the planet poses all 24 character strengths.

At Swift Creek, we use P2 language and terminology throughout the entirety of each school day.  Students make many connections between what they're learning with P2 and what they are learning academically.  As a result, students develop a deeper level of connection to and understanding of their academic work.  Socially and emotionally, P2 helps us learn more about the strengths in ourselves and others, and helps us build stronger relationships (student-to-student & staff-to-student) through reflecting on and practicing the 5 indicators of the Other People Mindset.

WHAT ARE MY TOP CHARACTER STRENGTHS???

Are you curious about what character strengths are at the top of your list and which strengths are you "cellar dwellers?"  Click the link below to take a free, reliable survey!  Remember though, everyone has all 24 strengths, so even your "cellar dwellers" are strengths within you.  It's fun to have the whole family take the survey and share results with each other!
