Welcome to 6th Grade Science! My name is Mrs. Castiglia, and I'm so excited to be your child's 6th Grade Science Teacher! We are going to learn so much this year together, and I can't wait to get started.  

    This is my 30th year as a teacher! I've completed 29 years and have taught second, third, fourth, fifth (23 years as an elementary school teacher) and sixth grade. This is my seventh year as a middle school teacher and love the challenge.

     I was born and raised in Southern California (Los Angeles area) and moved with my family to Raleigh nine years ago. I have a daughter, Mia who's 21 and is in her third year at ECU...Go Pirates!!! and a son, Nico who's 19 and a freshman at App State...Go Mountaineers!!!

     I graduated with a B.A. in Italian Studies from the University of California, San Diego. After I graduated, I worked for American Airlines at LAX as a gate agent and in the meantime earned my teaching credential from Cal State Long Beach.  I started my teaching career in 1995.

     When I'm not busy at work, you can find me relaxing with my husband in our backyard, planting flowers and tending to my garden, watching my daughter dance her heart out,  trying to get my son off his computer (he loves to research everything!), working out and staying in shape, cooking up something delicious (while listening to traditional Italian music) or just enjoying the beautiful trees and peaceful birds of the area.
