Scheduling the Driving Instruction
Driver's Ed has two parts. A student cannot get their permit at the DMV until they have completed Behind-the-Wheel instruction and received the Driver's Ed Completion Certificate.
Scheduling will be initiated by the driving instructor. The first contact will be a phone call and/or voicemail. The second contact might be a text or email. Please call them back. The instructor must speak with the parent to schedule driving.
Driving is scheduled by class, then by student age. The older students in the class will be given priority.
Please get the name and phone number of the driving instructor in case your student needs to reschedule.
Students are automatically eligible for BTW instruction. Parents do not have register, sign up, or pay additional fees.
Going to the DMV
You can schedule an appointment with the DMV or go when they are doing walk-in hours. DMV hours and services are dependent on location. Many locations have appointments booked out months in advanced.
At your appointment, your student will take a 25 question multiple choice test, including road signs.
There are fees.
