September: During the month of September, our focus will be to ensure that students are satisfied with their schedules and have a smooth and successful transition at Carnage Middle. This involves making modifications and changes to schedules, meeting with parents, and being available for questions that come up regarding the start of the school year.
October: Early in October, the students will be learning about the role of a school counselor. Our goal is for all 6th graders to know who their school counselor is, as well as how to access the services that their school counselor provides. In honor of 'Anti-Bullying Awareness' month, we will be promoting awareness about ways to stop bullying through morning announcements, as well as 'Blue' and 'Orange' shirt day. In addition, 'Interact' will be visiting all 6th graders through classroom counseling lessons focused on 'Loving Yourself, Valuing Others'.
November: As we delve deeper into the school year, we want to ensure that students have the tools they need to effectively cope with stress and/or anxiety. During the months of November and December, the school counselor will provide an opportunity for students to learn social and emotional skills needed to stay balanced and healthy through school and beyond! We will also be visiting classrooms to review schedules for 3rd quarter.
