In this course, students develop various techniques including stage presence, ensemble work and an understanding of the relationship between dancer and choreographer. Opportunities are given for performance in director-selected dance styles such as Modern Dance, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and student choreography. These students are the highest level dancers and are expected to develop skills in collaboration, leadership, and service to others through their dance opportunities in order to model 21st Century Learning Goals at the highest artistic level.

You are enrolled in the course for the entire year. There are NO afterschool rehearsals.
Concert performances are mandatory.
You will dress out (change into dance wear) each class period.
You will have assignments in this class to improve your dance artistry. Please take them seriously, for they will be graded on quality of work.
You will perform all styles of dance.
You are expected to be a role model for other students and should follow the rules as instructed.
You may have extra curricular activities, but this is a CLASS -- your priorities should always be with the school work.

You will be placed into a Canvas Classroom to submit audition materials.
You will be submitting materials via Canvas. Please submit as much as you can. If you are having difficulties and need assistance, please contact Mr. Barrier. (He wants you to be a part!)
For Choreography class, you must have taken a dance course at Carnage previously. Please DO NOT register for the choreography course if you are not ready for it or do not know what it is. It is a rigorous course that will push your artistry in dance, and you are expected to perform AND collaborate with fellow choreographers.
