This year, I am excited to present math to Math II students.
Our CANVAS classroom will have the schedule for each unit (daily tasks, practice tasks, quiz/test dates for the entire unit), links to the on-line workbook, and any extra practice/info files I think might be useful. Parents are encouraged to join, although you can only see materials if you are signed in with your student's ID (this is to protect copyright laws). All grades are maintained on PowerSchool (not CANVAS).
I communicate with parents using TalkingPoints, and the parent email that is available on PowerSchool. It is critical that your parent email is up-to-date.
Please contact me at cbonin@wcpss.net if you have any concerns or questions.
Supply List
Pencils - I like mechanical, but I do have a pencil sharpener in the classroom for student use.
Erasers - I like the white polymer ones, they are gentler on the paper, but any will do.
Composition Book - we will use this for final notes and anchor charts, since the workbooks don't have any such materials. I prefer the graph paper composition books (since we will be drawing in loads of graphs), but any composition book will do.
Students will have a packet and a workbook for each unit, so they may want a two-pocket folder (optional) with extra notebook paper to hold their math materials.
Protractor - this will be used for straight edges and for measuring angles. The protractor should be clear (so, not the quilting protractors that are solid black).
Compass - we will use a compass for the entire first semester geometry material. I prefer the artistic compasses - such as Mr. Pen (Wal-mart & Amazon) or Staedtler (Amazon). These compasses use wheels to open and close versus a nut and bolt as a pivot (the nut always comes loose!). I have safety compasses in the classroom that students can use, but they cannot take them home to complete homework.
We will be periodically using the TI-84 calculators. I have 10 classroom calculators that students can borrow, but they are well loved. We will also use the online calculator DESMOS with the WCPSS laptops.
Optional: colored pencils, skinny markers for note taking, sharpies, pens (I don't mind if students use pens in my classroom instead of pencils), pencil pouch
