A Little Bit About Me

Welcome all! I'm Elizabeth Boliek (pronounced "Bolick). Although I’ve been in NC since 2012, I was born and raised in New Jersey. I completed my undergrad degree in 2011 at Central Connecticut State University, where I studied English and Secondary Education and I was also a Division 1 softball pitcher. In 2012, I began my teaching career in Greensboro, NC, and I have been at Holly Springs HS since January of 2018. I received my National Board Certification in 2017, and I completed my master's degree in reading and literacy at UNC Charlotte in 2019. In that time, I got married and have two dogs, Oakley and Bella. Outside of work and school, I love traveling, spending time with family and friends, and attending sporting events...

My Teaching Philosophy

I truly believe in providing education that offers opportunities and promotes equity for all children. Teaching and learning is a passion of mine, and I particularly enjoy spreading my love and knowledge for literacy with my students, as I believe augmenting students' literacy skills is the door to opportunity and equity in all aspects of life. Literacy skills are important for everyone, no matter the career path, and my curriculum is setup to encourage students to interact with a variety of literacies: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and technology. While literacy skills are the door to creating successful young adults, fostering authentic relationships is the key to opening that door, therefore, investing in my students' personal interests is paramount to me, as well. I am eager to get to know each one of my students, learn from them, and grow with them through engaging, challenging, and meaningful assignments and activities.

If at any time, you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me via email. I look forward to a wonderful semester!
