Birthdays

A child’s birthday can be a special day for them.

With that in mind, some parents may be interested in ways they can celebrate their child's special day.

You may send in a small, special snack for the whole class (No treat bags.) Donuts, small cookies, or Rice Krispie treats are a good choice. Cupcakes and cake are strongly discouraged because of potential mess.

I would also like to offer and additional opportunity for you to honor your child on his/her special day. One emphasis of our kindergarten program is to foster a love of books and an interest in reading. With this in mind, I would love for you to participate in the Birthday Book program. This is how it works:

You can wrap a new book (or gently used) and either send it to school with him or bring the books to school for YOU to present and read to the class!! They would love a "guest reader."

Any of these are options are not required. We will certainly celebrate the day by singing and acknowledging the birthday here at school. See the DDE Birthday policy for more information.
