In the Art Room...

We believe in the creative process of art! Sometimes there is not an end product, but a discovery made in the making of art. There are no mistakes as long as you are trying your very best. What may seem like a mistake is rather a challenge to find a different solution and to problem solve. We learn that questions can have more than one answer and we celebrate many perspectives as we all see the world through different eyes.

In ART TALK we learn about the periods of art and the artists who created well known work during these times. We learn to look at art in a critical way when we apply what we know about the Elements of Art. It's fun to find different types of lines, colors and shapes in works of art. As we grow in our "artist's eye", we can also talk about The Principles of Design in artwork where we find and describe the ideas of balance and emphasis.

Through exploration with various media and analyzing our own work, we grow leaps and bounds in how we look at art, talk about art and make art!
