Hello, my name is Brittany Caruso (Ca-ru-so)!
I am so excited to be apart of the Apex Friendship Family as your STEM teacher! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of our STAR students!! In the meantime, here is a little about me...
I was a WCPSS student myself, as I grew up in Apex for most of my life. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013 from East Carolina University, with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and concentration in math. I obtained my Academically Gifted license while attending graduate school in 2014 and I finished my Masters Degree in Reading Education in 2016. I previously taught at Morrisville Elementary, a privately owned academically gifted school, White Oak, and Green Hope Elementary. During those years, I taught second grade, third grade, kindergarten and I was a reading interventionist. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl and I love the idea of living my dream everyday. My favorite part of teaching is meeting and creating memories with so many people (children and adults). There is nothing better than kids laughter while learning.
As you can tell from my classroom and my website, I love everything bee related! This all started when I became an aunt. My nephews call me "Ant Bee". The Bee comes from the first initial of Brittany (my first name). We spell aunt, Ant because my grandpa thought it would be funny to spell it as two animals. Ever since then it has stuck!
My family is extremely important to me. I have a husband, Blake, and dog named Russo Caruso. Russo is famous for his crazy stories like turning on the bathtub to go swimming, pulling the covers over his face when he is tucking himself to bed, opening the front door to go visit neighbors and so much more! He is a rescue from Peak Lab in Apex and we sure do love him! My parents, grandparents, two brothers and their families live in the area as well. My two nephews (JJ and Vincent) are at our house 24/7 it seems like! Their the two in all of the pictures above. Sunday dinners are a must for our family and I wouldn't have it any other way. We have a "door is always open" policy at home, which I like to have in my classroom too.
My hobbies include crafting, thrifting, furniture flipping, reading, movie watching, snuggling with Russo and gardening. We like to take family trips to the lake, but Russo has to have a leash on or else he would jump into the lake every five minutes. One of my favorite things to do is take a nap on the beach after reading a good book. My favorite sports are hockey and football. I love eating ice cream and baking all the yummy desserts possible. Oh and of course eating the yummy desserts!
Like I mentioned before, I look forward to being your STEM teacher! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Mrs. Caruso
