Kristy Martin, Ed.D.

7th Grade Science Teacher

I was born and raised in South Hill, Virginia. I still live there with my husband, 2 children, 4 dogs, 2 gerbils, and 3 fish. I commute everyday for the joy of teaching you and seeing your smiling faces! There is no place that I would rather be! A few years ago a decided to go on a fitness journey and became an avid runner and gym enthusiast. I began running 5K's, 10k's, and even did a half marathon. I also became very active in the Spartan community and completed a triple trifecta. After a several year break, I plan to revamp my running this year!

I earned my bachelor's and master's degree in elementary education from Old Dominion University. I later earned my doctorate in Curriculum and instruction from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) The focus of my dissertation was teaching physics through project based learning.

I taught 2nd and 3rd grade, 5th grade reading, and 5th grade science in Vance County before transferring to Wake County a few years ago. I taught 5th grade science at Forest Pines Elementary for the last 3 years and am excited to be a 7th grade Ram this year!
