Positivity Project

During March, the character strengths we will be looking at are: Cheering Others' Success, Social Intelligence, Love of Learning, Fairness, and Humor.

Reading

This month will focus on nonfiction books. We will learn about the world through informational text. Readers will learn to compare and contrast text structures across genres.

Writing

This month, students will continue to write All About texts. They will learn to write about different topics with the goal to teach others. Students will also begin to write narratives, using authors as mentors. They will use an assortment of crafts within their writing to bring the story to life on the page.

Math

Students will learn to

  1. Represent and solve addition and subtraction word problems with unknowns within 20 using objects and/or drawings
  2. Model addition of a two-digit number plus a one digit number and a two-digit number plus a multiple of ten with concrete models, drawings, and/or number line and explain the reasoning used
  3. Use an equal sign to determine if equations involving addition & subtraction equations are true
  4. Determine the value of the unknown in an addition or subtraction equation.
