Fiction Genres at Greenbrier

What are fiction genres? They are a way of categorizing fiction books based on common themes or story elements.

How can I tell a book's genre? At Greenbrier, our fiction collection has colored tape over the spine label to show the genre.

💥 Action/ Adventure 🧭

These fast-paced stories usually involve the main character going on a journey and experiencing extreme conditions, danger and tension.

Example: Geronimo Stilton: Mighty Mount Kilimanjaro

🐾 Animals🐶

An animal can be the central character, a narrator, a villain, a hero etc. Though the story revolves around animals, human characters may also form important components of the story.

Example: Bailey's Story

Fantasy stories are made up and include ideas that could not happen in real life, often involving magical or supernatural elements, such as wizards, dragons or unicorns.
