Life-long learning is a key characteristic of professionals to remain an expert in their occupational field. Within the current approach to coding as an offering to learners the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) identified four components. These four are generally recognized as indicated below with the current course focusing on (a):

(a) Demystifying coding for office-based and school-based teachers as well as for extended communities towards a common understanding of what coding and computational thinking means

(b) and/or structured extra-curricular enrichment programs through engagement in innovation hubs or coding/robotic events
