Kurt Minnaar began his educational journey in 2005, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). He taught mathematics and natural sciences at Eben Dönges High School from 2008 to 2017, also serving as head of department and teacher representative on the School Governing Body.
Passionate about teacher development, Kurt collaborated with institutions like Goeie Hoop Primary School and Inclusive Education South Africa (IESA) to facilitate training programs. He partnered with the Global Teachers Institute (GTI) to enhance teacher training in Limpopo Province, emphasising resourcefulness and engaging teaching methods.
Inspired by his experiences, Kurt founded Dreamer Education to revolutionise learning for Generation Z students and support teachers with innovative resources and training. His work gained public attention after a viral video in 2016, leading to media appearances and the creation of a math-themed rap album called "Vanguard: Multiple Motivation."
In 2017, Kurt hosted "Vanguard: Math Meets Art," an event showcasing the connection between mathematics and creativity. He authored a chapter in the book "Neva Again — Hip Hop Art, Activism, and Education in Post-Apartheid South Africa," highlighting the role of hip-hop in education reform.
Kurt possesses specialised expertise in crafting and delivering mathematics content, with a strong emphasis on video production. His skill set extends to shooting green screen videos and utilising AI technology to infuse a youthful, hip-hop vibe into the content.
Appointed as an associate of Cornerstone Institute Teachers College in 2020, Kurt's expertise in creative mathematics teaching was recognised internationally at the T4 World Education Week Conference. He currently serves as a Mathematics Subject Advisor in the Western Cape and contributed to the book "Teaching in and Beyond Pandemic Times."
Kurt actively collaborates with institutions and individuals to improve education in South Africa.
