Reading and loving to read is one of my main goals as a teacher. We use the reading program called Teachers' College Reading and Writing Program or TCRWP. This program emphasizes a love of reading and analysis of all genres of writing. The link to learn more about the program here. One of our favorite parts of the day is Readers Workshop. This is quiet time where your child can pick a just right book that they can read independently for 20 to 30 minutes. Please make sure your home has a quiet place for your student read AT HOME for another 30 minutes everyday.

I encourage kids to bring books from home if they wish, as they can choose any book they want to read as long as they are reading!
