Hi! My name is Katie Torkelson-Regan. I teach 9th Grade Science at Washtenaw Technical Middle College (WTMC). I am in my third year of teaching, and have been fortunate enough to work at WTMC since graduating from the University of Michigan's Master of Arts with Secondary Teacher Certification program in 2018.
Despite the challenges of teaching virtually during the COVID-19 Pandemic, I have absolutely loved this school year. The biggest reason for that is my students. As you have seen from their work, these students are incredible. They have exhibited such resilience, thoughtfulness, and courage this year. I am absolutely honored to be their teacher, and I hope they enjoyed my class as much as I enjoyed learning from them.
I am also so grateful for the Southeast Michigan Stewardship Coalition (SEMIS). This community of educators, leaders, and friends has been invaluable to my teaching practice. Thank you, SEMIS, for your support and encouragement! I appreciate the opportunity to share my students' work with the larger community, and that wouldn't be possible without y'all!
Feel free to reach out to me at ktorkelsonregan@wccnet.edu or find me on Twitter at @KTorkelsonRegan if you'd like to chat or learn more about this project.
