Chorus class is comprised of boys and girls in the same grade at Bennett Middle School. If permitted, we will perform two concerts (Holiday and Spring) and go on two or more field trips each year. We rehearse mostly in school but do have a few graded after school rehearsals for each concert. There is no audition required in order to be in Chorus class. For performance purposes in the winter and spring, 7th and 8th grades are grouped together for one concert date and 6th grade has their own separate concert dates.
To be enrolled in Chorus, please contact your grade level guidance counselor or mark Chorus class on your next grade's course request form.
Students are graded based on Formative (50%) and Summative (50%) grades. Formative grades are taken often - usually an informal singing or sight reading test, Participation grade, or similar activity; Summative grades are less frequent, and include assignments like quizzes, formal singing or sight reading tests, after school rehearsals, and concerts. Please see the Course Syllabus on each course's Google Classroom for more detailed information and policies on turning in work.
