You must be experiencing five or more symptoms of the following symptoms within a 2-week period
Little interest or pleasure in doing things
Feeling down, depressed, or hopeless
Troubling falling asleep or staying asleep, or sleeping too much
Feeling tired or having little energy
Poor appetite or overeating
Feeling bad about yourself - or that you a failure or have let yourself or your family down
Trouble concentrating on things, such as reading the newspaper or watching tv
Moving or speaking so slowly that other people could have noticed. Or the opposite - being so fidgety or restless that you have been moving around a lot more than usual
Thoughts that you be better off dead, or of hurting yourself in some way
Excessive anxiety and worry (apprehensive expectation), occurring more days than not for at least 6 months, about a number of events or activities (such as work or school performance).
You find it difficult to control the worry.
The anxiety and worry are associated with three or more of the following six symptoms (with at least some symptoms present for more days than not for the past 6 months).
Restlessness or feeling keyed up or on edge
Being easily fatigued
Difficulty concentrating or mind going blank
Irritability
Muscle tension
Sleep disturbance (difficulty falling or staying asleep, or restless unsatisfying sleep)
