Concert Updates Due to COVID-19

      • Updated 2/24/21: We are excited to be presenting face-to-face, in-person concerts during March. All concerts will take place in the Klinge Gymnasium. Spectators will not be limited, though social distancing protocols will still be followed. Audience members are asked to sit as a family unit. Per school policy, performers and spectators will wear masks. All concerts will be live-streamed in addition to being performed in front of a live audience. Concert dates are as follows:

          • HS Band & Choir: Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 pm

            • Students report to choir/band room at 6:30, concert dress

          • Elementary: Tuesday, March 16 (split times as follows)

            • Kdg-2nd Grade at 6:30 pm

              • Students report to classrooms at 6:20

              • Students will wear “dressy” clothes (a shirt with little or no writing and nice pants or a skirt/dress)

            • 3rd-5th Grade (includes 5th Grade Band) at 7:00 pm

              • 5th grade band students report to the choir room at 6:40

              • Non-band students report to classrooms at 6:50

              • Students will wear “dressy” clothes (a shirt with little or no writing and nice pants or a skirt/dress)

          • 6th-8th Grade Band & Choir: Thursday, March 18 at 7:00 pm

              • Band students report to the choir room at 6:30

              • Non-band students report to the auditorium at 6:45

              • Students will wear black/dark pants with a school-provided polo shirt (shirts will be handed out upon arrival)

      • As of 1/27/21: We are excited to announce that we are planning smaller, in-person concerts during March. At this time, spectators will not be limited, though social distancing protocols will still be followed. Performers and spectators will wear masks. All concerts will be live-streamed in addition to being performed in front of a live audience. Concert dates will be as follows:

        • HS Band & Choir: Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 pm

        • Elementary: Tuesday, March 16 (split times as follows)

          • Kdg-2nd Grade at 6:30 pm

          • 3rd-5th Grade (includes 5th Grade Band) at 7:00 pm

        • 6th-8th Grade Band & Choir: Thursday, March 18 at 7:00 pm

      • As of 11/17/20: In accordance with Gov. Reynolds' latest proclamations, the HS concerts on 12/14 (HS Choir) and 12/17 (HS Band) will be limited to 2 attendees per student participant.

        • A ticket will be required for admittance to the concert.

        • Ushers will escort attendees to socially-distanced seats in the auditorium.

        • All performers and attendees are required to wear masks for the entire performance.

        • The concert will be live-streamed via the school's Facebook page for those not in attendance. (https://www.facebook.com/West-Central-Community-Schools-144673972224288)

      • As of 10/19/20: Students in grades 9-12 will hold live, in-person winter concerts. These concerts will also be live-streamed for those not able to attend.

        • Due to seating capacity and performance time limits, the high school “Winter with West Central” concert will be split into 2 performances on separate evenings.

          • HS Choir will perform on Monday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

          • HS Band will perform on Thursday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

        • All performers and attendees must wear a mask. We appreciate your cooperation so that live performances continue to be a possibility for our students.

      • As of 10/19/20: Students in grades PK-8 will host virtual performances in place of the fall/winter concerts. This is due to the large number of attendees at past events for this age group.

        • Watch for elementary and junior high performances to be posted around the first week of December. Information will be emailed to families of students involved, as well as posted on the school website.

      • There will be no pep band during basketball games this year due to social distancing guidance.

      • Due to the nature of carry-out Thanksgiving meals for senior citizens, there will be no entertainment provided for community members.

      • This year’s Veteran’s Day performances will be streamed in an online format. Performances by the HS Band and Choir will be posted to the school website.

      • The Upper Iowa Conference Honor Band has been cancelled.

      • The Upper Iowa Conference Fall Vocal Festival has been cancelled.

      • As of 8/3/20:Normal” public performances are not recommended. Should this continue, alternate means of production/performance will be presented and shared throughout the year.

Concert policies will continue to be reviewed in the new year as we assess how future performances will be handled.
