Please remember that the BEST and MOST QUALIFIED person to help your student is his/her teacher! Please contact the WBMS Teachers directly via email to set up a phone conference or meeting.
High School Students: At times, some of our West Branch High School Students are looking for ways to earn community service hours and/or extra money. This can be difficult to coordinate, as many of them have very busy schedules. However, if you are interested in this option, setting up tutoring with a high school student can be done in several ways:
Contacting the family directly (if you know the family well).
Contact WBHS School Counselor, Jana Stitle to see if they have a list of students interested in tutoring.
Khan Academy: One of most useful tools for our students is an online tutoring site called Khan Academy. You will need a parent/guardian to help sign you up and to create an account. Once an account is created, the program will take you through the skills you need to work on. The program will adjust as you master the skills. There are also video lessons to help you. The website is: www.khanacademy.org
Mount Union College: Parents can hire a Mount Union College student by contacting Dr. Pratt at (330)829-2753. Tutoring is generally done in the Mount Union Library for $10/hour.
Kent State University (Salem Campus): Parents can hire a Kent State - Salem student by contacting Wendy Pfrengerat (330)337-4233.
Private Tutors: Occasionally, we will have community members interested in offering tutoring services. These individuals are not associated with West Branch Locals Schools and are acting as private tutors (generally at a fee for the family). At this time, we do not have any information on local private tutors. Any information we receive in the future will be posted HERE.
Your Local Church: Many of the churches in our school district have members (usually retired) who love to work with young people and are looking for something productive to do. You may want to consider contacting your local church office and ask if they have any members interested in tutoring your student.

College Credit Plus Information
We typically do a college credit plus parent/student fall informational meeting. Students in grades 7-12, if accepted and meet the criteria for the college, are eligible to earn college credits while in high school. However, given the current circumstances, we will not be holding a face-to-face meeting this year. The link below is a video containing how to access college credit information, as well as the information we share at this meeting. See Mrs. Stitle if you have any questions! There are strict deadlines for this, so please take the time to watch the video! The video can also be found on the high school counseling homepage.
