We have a lot of special activities to keep students engaged, see below for our schedule of events.

All students in the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District are welcome to attend our summer check-in events!

Students who bring their ThinkStretch workbook can check in their completed lessons and earn prizes for their hard work.

Don’t have your workbook with you? That’s okay! You are still welcome to join us and enjoy all of the activities and fun.

We hope you’ll come out, spend some time with us, and be part of the summer fun!

K-Pop DJ

Join us for our first Summer Learning Check-In and get ready to move! We’re kicking off the summer with a high-energy Kids DJ Dance Party from Fairytale Entertainment.

Our DJ host will bring a professional sound system, fun music kids love, and interactive games with prizes. Students can dance, play along, and enjoy the party atmosphere while stopping in to check in on their summer learning.

This event is drop-in, so families can come anytime between 10:00 and noon. Bring your friends, show us your summer learning progress, and celebrate with music, dancing, and lots of fun!

Mad Science

Get Ready for a Science Spectacular! Join us for an exciting summer show that’s bursting with mind-blowing science experiments! Watch in awe as foggy dry ice storms roll in, giant beach balls float through the air, and sizzling, shivering scissors steal the spotlight. Don’t miss the bubbly showers that bring science to life in the most dazzling way!

July 21

Metro Park Mobile Learning Center

This traveling nature experience brings live animals, hands-on activities, and interactive lessons right to our Summer Check-In.

Led by Metroparks naturalists, students will explore the wonders of wildlife, ecosystems, and Michigan’s natural habitats through engaging demonstrations and activities. You might even meet some live animal ambassadors like reptiles or amphibians while learning how scientists and conservationists help protect our environment.

It’s a fun and memorable way for students to discover nature, ask questions, and explore the world of science—right in their own community!

We are also excited to have The Balloon Guys joining us at this check-in event! They’ll be creating amazing balloon creations for students and bringing lots of energy and fun to the day.

Come watch as they twist balloons into fun shapes and characters — you might even get to take one home!

Gordon the Magician

We’re excited to welcome Gordon the Magician to our Summer Check-In event! Michigan magician Gordon Russ is one of Metro Detroit’s leading performers, bringing his exciting blend of magic, illusion, and interactive fun to audiences since his professional debut in 1988. Gordon has performed around the world, entertaining crowds across Europe, Australia, and China, as well as at well-known venues throughout the United States.

Known for his engaging style and crowd-pleasing tricks, Gordon frequently performs at schools, libraries, festivals, and community events. His lively shows are full of surprises and are sure to delight students and families as we celebrate summer learning together.

Sciencepalooza!

Michigan Science Center

We are so excited to host Sciencepalooza, an exciting hands-on STEM experience at our Summer Check-In! Students and families will explore 10 interactive activity stations that introduce cutting-edge science and technology used to help protect and conserve our planet.

Participants will discover how real-world scientists, engineers, and conservationists use STEM to solve important global challenges. Each station connects to STEM professionals from diverse backgrounds, helping students imagine themselves in future STEM careers.

Come experiment, explore, and see how science, technology, engineering, and math are shaping a brighter future for our world!
