CONTEST SCHEDULE
Remember that performance times are approximate. Please inform your students to let their parents and friends know about this information. We don't want anyone missing a performance that they want to see. Please make sure that parents are aware of your school code. They will not be posted online, around the school, and our volunteers will not have access to them.
Encourage your performers (and their audience) to arrive early. Again, maps and signage will help, but there is travel time between different performance centers. Centers may also run early or late.
Check-In: When you enter the main doors, be ready to check in. Contest Headquarters are down the hall to your left as soon as you enter the building: Library room 258.
Changes: If you have any changes to report, please let us know when you check in...even better, please fill out the change form prior to your arrival.
Weather-related announcements: Weather in Iowa is challenging. If we would need to delay or postpone for weather-related reasons, we will send out an e-mail to all coaches, post an announcement to the website, and post it on the IHSSA website.
If inclement weather were to take place, the makeup date for this contest would be Monday, March 3rd, 2025 @ 4:00 pm.
Performance Rights: Make sure you have secured all performance rights for all performance pieces, music, and royalties, Additionally, make sure your students have secured rights where applicable in their short films. The judge may ask where they got their music from, so be prepared and proactive.
Video/Photography: Please remind all spectators and parents that photography or videotaping during a performance is strictly prohibited unless the individual has obtained permission from the state office. They must bring documentation of this permission with them.
Etiquette: Please remind all spectators and parents that they should not wear school-identifying clothing. Additionally, a parent or spectator should never approach a judge for any reason. If the parent or spectator has an issue, please have them speak to you, and then you can bring the concern to the main gym where the contest manager and district officer will handle the situation.
Home Base: The main gym will serve as the home base for all students during the day. Please remind students to be respectful of the space. We ask that you be careful of any items that you move across our gym.
Food: We will be offering breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria. Please see the "menu" for details of what will be served.
Noise: Please help us keep the noise down in the hallways to respect ongoing performances. We have provided many warm-up rooms to help with noise, but please remind your students and spectators to keep the volume down in the hallways.
