Get to know the teacher!

Mrs. Schaefer

I have been teaching for about 25 years, and 19 of them have been spent in Wharton! During my career, I have taught 5th-8th grade. I was also the district's Instructional Coach, where I was able to teach and help teachers with learning strategies and tech. I LOVE my job! Other hobbies I enjoy: reading, going to the beach, gardening, learning, baking, and family time. My favorite color is purple; I love dark chocolate; I always give 120%!

Mr. and Mrs. Schaefer

I have been married to Mr. Schaefer for 22 years. He was in the military for 25 years. He is a government contractor for the DoD working in the drone industry. He is a drone pilot, and most of his work is classified. He has a very cool job...um, so we think!

DJ and Samantha Schaefer

I have two amazing children. They keep me very busy with their various activities. Samantha and I enjoy baking, cooking, swimming, and walking/running together. She is a senior and plays lacrosse! DJ is a freshman in college. He's attending Dominican University, where he plays lacrosse. He also loves basketball and owns his own streetwear company, OTO Streetwear.

Our dogs are from Nairobi, Kenya. They are a mixed breed referred to by the kennel as Nairobi Specials. They were our guard dogs while we were living in Nairobi. It was very important for us to bring them back with us to the US which the kennel was very happy about and surprised to learn. We absolutely love them!

Our incredible experience is one we are so grateful we did. We have so many amazing memories. The best part was the unlimited family time!
