MACKINNON MIDDLE SCHOOL

"HOME OF THE HORNETS"

Welcome to MacKinnon Middle School! Go Hornets!

I am Frank DeVone and I am the School Counselor here at MacKinnon Middle School. I have been a School Counselor for over ten years; and this is my second year here in Wharton Borough. I am a solution focused counselor that encourages students to develop a positive self-esteem and relationship with self and others, healthy habits, an understanding of what one has control over, and resilience. I believe that all children have a natural ability to learn and grow as they navigate their way through their journey in adolescence and on their way to becoming young adults. My goal is to coach and support young people to recognize and reach their potential by setting tangible goals and working towards them with the support and encouragement from parents and staff. I work very hard at building a relationship with all of the students at here at MacKinnon, with the goal that they know they are safe to talk about their struggles, feelings, and their lives with me.

My door is always open; do not hesitate to reach out to me by phone or email.

Mr. Frank DeVone, M. Ed.

HOMEWORK CLUB IS OPEN!

MacKinnon Middle School will be offering an after school Homework club program starting Monday, December 6th.

This program is catered to students who either need quiet time to get work done after school, extra assistance in a particular subject area, or could benefit by having a certificated staff member available to ask questions as they are completing work/catching up on work. Students will be expected to bring work with them, be engaged in independent work throughout the session, and are required to adhere to all school rules.

The program is being offered in groups. The groups will be offered in (2) two day sessions which will run from 3:10 until 4:10. One group will be Monday/Wednesday and the other group will be Tuesday/Thursday. This program will run until the end of May.

Permission slips are available in the main office and in the School Counseling office.
