Duffy Elementary School

Marie V. Duffy Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to the Marie V. Duffy Elementary School! We are a community coming together to prepare our children to thrive in this dynamic world. Our goals are to further the academic achievement of all of our students, continue to build on our positive culture and climate and increase parent and community involvement.

The Wharton School District has invested in providing the latest technology to all of our classrooms enabling teachers to personalize instruction through Google Classroom and programs like NEWSELA, KidBiz, Sumdog, Arcademics, and Brainpop. Classrooms are equipped with document cameras to facilitate instruction and support student learning. In addition, Duffy teachers regularly receive technology, books, audio equipment and supplies for their classrooms through successful Donors Choose applications.

The Duffy staff continues to work closely together in PLCs, Professional Learning Communities, to collaboratively and consistently improve instruction.

We are in our second year working with Generation Text, having Houses as a way for all students and staff to build community. DUFFY FORCE, our student team, works with our staff team to bring about positive change in the Duffy School and lead assemblies.

Our parent liaison, Leticia Marquez, is a daily support and connection to the school for parents. She not only is privy to all the latest information on happenings in the school, but she also hosts parent workshops and is here to provide parents with hands-on support, including with the Grade Portal and messenger systems.

Together, Wharton parents, staff, and students, create a place of safety and challenge where our children learn to thrive.
