This presentation will discuss the use of virtual labs for remote, hybrid, and in-person classes. PHET provides free access to various virtual labs and visuals for different subject areas. We will discuss different labs and the teacher and student resources available for lessons. Also, this workshop will describe using Google Forms for a gamified approach to the lesson.
This workshop will focus on the EdTech Framework "Tasks before Apps" The participants will be provided with procedures and resources to utilize EdTech to promote student choice and foster differentiation. This workshop will be co-presented by Ms. Kelly Gauntt & Mr. Dennis Land, both members of the SLST team 2020-2021 school year. The goal of the workshop is for staff to walk away with resources they can apply for the 2021-2022 school year.
How can we, as educators, promote student voice and self-expression? There are several strategies for promoting student voice in the classroom environment. Join us as we explore Flipgrid — an engaging and empowering tool that is perfect for having your students express themselves creatively. Using this interactive tool, we will show you how your students can record and share ideas, videos, and stories. We will also dive into how educators can utilize this digital tool to create weekly reflections, discussion groups, and explore numerous topics. Watch as confidence and storytelling skills blossom!

In this Session a Teq Professional Development Specialist will review popular education models that focus on the implementation of technology in the classroom such as SAMR, TPACK and PIC-Rat to identify appropriate strategies for engaging students with technology and transforming teaching and learning. This session will both review models as well as provide examples and templates for evaluation of lessons and teaching practices.
You don't need to be an expert in Technology, STEAM, or Makerspace to integrate elements of these practices into your classroom! This workshop shares information on basic ways to enhance 21st Century learning through the use of STEAM resources for you to explore and add to your educational practice. Participants will learn about lots of free or budget-friendly tools and solutions to help spice up classroom collaboration and encourage student innovation, while learning about grant opportunities, learning communities, professional development opportunities, and classroom activities. Participants in the session can also access an online learning community of educators managed by the presenter to share resources and educational opportunities for themselves and their students after the presentation ends.
Step-by-step, hands-on instruction will guide participants through learning how to integrate their Promethean ActivPanel Solution into daily classroom instruction. As part of this training session, learners will explore educational apps, work with integrating existing classroom devices and master usage of Promethean hardware.
Deniz holds a B.A. in Elementary School Teaching from Montclair State University, an M.Ed. in School Counseling from William Paterson University, and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Felician University. She started her career in education in 2007 in New Jersey and became a school administrator in 2014. Working in the education field for over 13 years, she recognizes the importance of mindfulness as it cultivates well-being, self-care, and attention skills that prepare all stakeholders to teach and learn with greater energy and mastery. Currently, Deniz is pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Educational Technology Leadership at New Jersey City University.
Filiz Zeybek-Guven holds a B.A. in Elementary School Teaching from Akdeniz University in Turkey and an M.Ed. in Special Education from NJCU in New Jersey. She started her life in education as a substitute teacher and continued as a special education teacher in New Jersey public schools. Since 2011, she has been teaching with love and compassion. She was honored as the "2017 Teacher of the Year" during her sixth year of teaching. Currently, Filiz is working as a special education teacher in a public school and pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Educational Technology Leadership at New Jersey City University.
Giancarlo a middle school science teacher who began his educational career after graduating from William Paterson University in 2016. His passion for teaching and technology drives his instructional style to prepare the next generation.
He is currently on the journey to complete his Ed.D. in Educational Technology Leadership and take on the challenges in education to achieve equitable academic success for all.
Kelly graduated in 2004 from Rutgers University with a Bachelors in History, then continued in 2012 to get a Masters in Using Technology to Advance Literacy in the classroom from Walden University, and in 2018 completed an education Supervisor Certificate from Rutgers University. Throughout her studies and her years of teaching, she has developed people skills and strong leadership abilities. She recently completed her supervisor certificate and is currently a teacher of History at Willingboro High School and department chair.
Dennis is a 2012 graduate of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelors in History Education. He began his full time educational career teaching sixth grade World Civilizations for four years before transitioning into the high school setting at Willingboro High School. Continuing his education, Dennis attended Grand Canyon University for his Masters in Educational Administration. He currently holds a NJ Supervisors and NJ Principals Certification. Additionally, his experiences at Willingboro High School have allowed him to become a Google for Education Certified Trainer.
Ryan was a second-grade teacher in Brooklyn for eight years before joining Promethean in 2018. He has always enjoyed teaching what he knows and loves. This includes geography, writing, math, music, and nature. Although his touring days are over, Ryan will always be a drummer as he continues to record as a session drummer for various podcasts and established artists. He is also a self-proclaimed Delaware River tubing/kayaking adventure guide. He loves that his new career path is helping teachers teach with their Promethean technology and he has a great time doing it.
Rich is the Territory Director for Promethean in NJ and NY State. He has 25 years in the business of education and currently resides in Clifton, NJ.
Dana Mason is a technology educator in the Bayonne Public Schools, where she teaches grades kindergarten through eight, and helps with professional development, data analysis, and curriculum writing for her department. She holds a B.M. in Music Performance from NYU, as well as an M.A. in Educational Technology from NJCU, and is a doctoral candidate in the Educational Technology Leadership program at NJCU. Mrs. Mason is a recipient of the Honeywell Educators at Space Academy scholarship where she participated in training with NASA facilitators in Huntsville, AL, and qualified the following summer for Advanced Training. It was here that she learned how valuable the infusion of the arts into the STEM model could be in education.
Mrs. Mason has had the pleasure of teaching STEAM to middle schoolers in Shenzhen, China, and her research has been published in the Instructional Technology Council Journal, as well as Emerging Technologies and the Future of Technology in the Classroom. She has presented for educators at a variety of conferences including The Space Exploration Educators Conference at Space Center Houston in Texas, NJEA Convention, and NJTV Learning Live with the NJDOE. Dana has also been named the 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year for Henry E. Harris Community School. By blending the arts into her current practice in education, Dana seeks to share new ideas with educators that share her passion for broadening their experiences by becoming life-long learners.

Matthew has been working as a Professional Development Specialist and PD Account Manager for Teq for the last 13 years. He supports schools with integrating the role of technology into the learning environment. Working with schools and school districts to build and develop classrooms of the 21st century to bring out the best of teaching quality along with the content and standards for the betterment of teaching ability to promote student progress and success. For years prior to working for Teq, Matthew has taught and integrated technology into middle and high school Social Studies, elementary school, and Special Education. Graduate of Dowling College with a BA of History and Education; from SUNY @ Stony Brook University with a MA in Liberal Studies/Technology in the Humanities; and Graduate work Dowling College in Special Education. Permanently certified in both Elementary Education: N-6, and Social Studies: 7-12. Concurrently, he still teaches Evening High School Social Studies/Economics, remotely for a Long Island school district, and also serves as an education consultant/contributor for publications and contest administration for a multinational educational publication firm.
Andy Shaw is a District Engagement Advocate at Canva, helping schools and districts around the US and the world empower their students, teachers, and staff to create and design. A former mathematics teacher and high school administrator, Andy spent 15 years working in schools and leading transformational change initiatives. In the following years, he has worked with districts around the country as a professional development facilitator, strategic consultant, and technology integration facilitator. His professional areas of interest include instructional design, school- and district-level systems design, school leadership, and student-centered learning. Andy lives in Cape Elizabeth, ME with his wife and two daughters.
Phillip Crisostomo is currently the Supervisor of Instructional Technology & Data Analysis in the Willingboro Public Schools and a mentor for new school leaders in NJ through the Leader2Leader program. He is also a doctoral student in the Educational Technology Leadership Program at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, NJ.
He originally pursued a career as a Music Teacher by obtaining a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Grove City College. Having taught Elementary and Middle School music for 10 years, he then became a school administrator after earning his Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Since 2011, he has served as an administrator in the Willingboro School District, first as an Elementary Assistant Principal, as head Principal of Garfield East Elementary, and then as an Assistant Principal at Willingboro High School. In his current role as the Supervisor of Instructional Technology & Data, he oversees the district's 1:1 device initiative and monitors the implementation of educational technology in the district's schools. In addition to being certified as a Music Teacher and Principal, Mr. Crisostomo has earned the School Administrator Certificate of Eligibility.
The desire to learn how to help teachers implement innovative lessons through the use of technology led him to enroll in the Education Technology Leadership program at New Jersey City University. He began the program in July 2019 and plans to finish the program along with the rest of Cohort 7 in May 2022.
