Big Life Hooks

These 'Hooks' are designed to encourage conversation, spark positive emotion and promote authentic relationships in the classroom.

Some suggestions for how to use the Big Life Hooks:

brain breaks

These Brain Breaks can be used by individual students, small groups or a whole class, based on their needs. You can print these lists on paper or flash cards to display or distribute to students in the classroom. 

Please note, students in the Red Zone need individual attention and will struggle to de-escalate in a whole class setting. Please see the Self-Reg Room for resources to support students in the Red Zone.

Yellow Zone

YELLOW

Use the Yellow Zone Brain Breaks for individuals/groups feeling stressed, frustrated, anxious, excited, jittery or nervous and complete a strategy to help them get back to feeling happy, focused and ready to learn.  

Green Zone

GREEN

Use the Green Zone Brain Breaks for individuals/groups feeling calm, happy, focused, content, and ready to learn. Complete a strategy to give them a short break that will help boost their optimal learning experience. 

Blue Zone

BLUE ZONE

Use the Blue Zone Brain Breaks for individuals/groups feeling sad, tired, sick, or bored and complete a strategy to help them get back to feeling happy, focused and ready to learn.
