7th grade: FACS 7 is an introductory course that focuses on the skills and concepts identified with Family & Consumer Science. This course is one quarter in length and will be divided into three units. The areas of study are Career Exploration, Personal Finance, and Food & Nutrition.
8th grade: FACS 8 is a course that builds upon the skills and concepts students learned in FACS 7. Units of study include interpersonal relationships, specifically focusing on communication, characteristics of healthy relationships, stress management, and conflict resolution; Advanced & Global Foods, emphasizing nutrition, advanced food preparation techniques, food science, and the study of cultures and food; Design, includes learning basic hand sewing skills and studying elements and principles of color and design while applying those to a design project; Child Development is the study of development from birth to age five, proper caregiving, and family structures.
