What is Mu Alpha Theta?
Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. It is “dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school students.”
Who is Eligible?
Any students in 10th -12th grade who have completed Algebra II or an equivalent course (Unified III), and are currently enrolled in Unified IV Honors, PreCalculus, Honors Calculus, or AP Calculus AB/BC are eligible for membership, providing their mathematical work was done with distinction. On the 4-point grading scale, this shall mean at least a 3.5 Math grade point average.
Interested in Joining?
If you are interested in joining the society, and you meet the criteria above, please complete the Google Form on the Classroom Page by October 28, 2022. No late applications will be accepted this academic year. There will be meetings throughout the year that you will be required to attend, and math competition opportunities. You will be notified in about two week’s time regarding your admission into the Mu Alpha Theta Society. There is a $10 one-time membership registration fee per new member. Membership dues will be paid through Community Pass and be explained further upon acceptance. If you are already a member you do not need to reapply or pay the $10 membership fee.
