2. Many schools offer merit-based scholarships. Pay attention to deadlines, as these are typically earlier than a regular application deadline. They are usually scholarships that are automatically granted if students meet the criteria. These can be found on each specific college or university's website.
   
   

3. Use search engines. Feel free to explore the popular sites listed on this web page. 
   
   

Local Scholarships will be announced and posted as Scholarship Donors share with WHS for the 2025 -2026 School Year.   

In order to open Scholarships you will need to be on a Google Browser, open in google docs, then copy to make yourself your OWN COPY so you can type the information in the appropriate spaces.. 

More tips: 

• Keep a spreadsheet of all the scholarships you complete with due dates & the date you turned it in to the specified location.  

• Be careful to read where the scholarship application is to be mailed or turned in with the  correct due date.

• If mailing or emailing, the post marked date should be prior to the due date.   

• If 'turn in' location is the high school office, ONLY hard copies will be accepted (email attachments to office or counselor will not be accepted).

• Scholarships should always be typed.  

• Print on 1 side ONLY of the paper;  front & back printing is not  accepted. 

•  Use the same font throughout the applications, unless heading/subheading, etc. Should look like an organized, well put together application.                                                                                                                        

• Don't print with 1 or 2 sentences on one page, but rather change the margin to make it fit.     

• Don't submit your resume to replace or answer the questions being asked, unless it specifies resumes are allowed.  

• If completing Google Form Applications, you should still be detailed with answers when necessary, such as an essay etc.

Updated Transcripts with NGPA/WGPA  (7th Semester)  will be available January 2026. It is wise to attach updated transcript to each scholarship submitted. 

Don't forget investigate scholarships at the college you will be attending in the Fall. Such as High School Merit Scholarships.
