Using technology has an important role in educational instruction . The goal in developing this readiness baseline is for the purpose of promoting a common expectation for students' knowledge and skills with the technology available in the district.

The baseline was designed to gradually increase the depth of knowledge and the use of skills as students progress through their elementary school years and beyond.

The baseline addresses five separate categories throughout the progression. The categories are the following: keyboarding, responsibility, creation, skills, and digital citizenship.
