CTLE & In-service Hours

CTLE and In-service Credit

All sessions offered through the Wayne Teaching and Learning Center bear in-service credit. All outside offerings must be approved. Before you complete the IN-SERVICE/COLLEGE CREDIT Prior Approval form, please read all instructions.

SALARY CREDIT: The district offers salary credit for college or in-service courses taken by staff members outside regular working hours. The current teachers’ rate for the 2021-2022 school year is $45 per credit (one credit = 15 hours) for college courses taken beyond the first 30 graduate hours or $45 for any approved in-service course. The current CSEA contractual rate is a $50 onetime payment per credit (one credit = 15 hours).

COLLEGE COURSE: A college course is a course taught at an accredited university. Participants may attend the college directly or participate in an online course. Courses are credit-bearing and result in the participant accruing credit hours.

IN-SERVICE CREDIT COURSES: In-service credit is granted when participants complete courses and evaluations in MLP that are generally offered by the district through the Wayne Central Office of Instruction or the Teaching and Learning Center. Other workshop or online course work that occurs after work hours may also be considered for in-service credit with prior approval from the Office of Instruction. Certain criterion is considered for this approval to be granted.

CRITERIA FOR IN-SERVICE APPROVAL:

  1. Must be directly connected to your practice or discipline

  2. The work must be collaborative; this can be with colleagues within or outside the district

  3. It must be designed to answer a question/solve a problem within the course you are teaching ( i.e.: How do I analyze running records more effectively?)

  4. It has to be driven by evidence of student learning

  5. The time must be spent producing new knowledge/understandings related to the course of study that you are teaching

  6. The time spent must be outside school hours

  7. Must be pre-approved by the ASI. Please do not participate in the course and then submit for approval.
