Here, you will learn a little about our troop.

History

The Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church Girl Scout Troop began under Pastor Wilbur Lowe. Mrs. Cheryl Cammon, Mrs. Cynthia (Judy) Dixon, and Mrs. Cynthia Edwards were the troop leaders. This troop ceased for a brief period of time due to the reassignment of Rev. and Mrs. Cammon and the girls in the troop growing up. The Girl Scout Troop was reactivated in 1997-98 under Pastor Frederick A. Wright.
Today, Troop #30069, continues with strong support from Pastor Gerald A. Cooper, the Wayman Church Family, friends, and community.

Council Membership

Girl Scout Troop #30069 is part of “Girl Scouts of Western Ohio” and Council member of the Northwest Dayton Service Unit. This Urban Scout Campus is located at 450 Shoup Mill Drive, Dayton, OH 45415.

Leadership

The universal goal of Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Troop #30069 is a multi-level troop of grade levels which has Daisies (K-1), Brownies (2-3), Juniors (4-5), Cadettes (6-8), Seniors (9-10), and Ambassadors (11-12).

Activities

The girls participate in community activities such as the Annual Girl Scout Cookie Sales, Dayton Metro Parks Clean-up, Grave Decorating at National Cemetery, and the Dayton Children’s Day Parade. One of our signature programs is the Annual Christmas Stocking project.

Wayman Boy Scout Pack/Troop 631

Welcome to the Wayman Boy Scout page. Here, you will learn a little about our Pack/troop.

History

The Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church Boy Scouts Troops began under Pastor C.N. Flanigan and were well established for a period of years in the community. After a brief break in service, The Boy Scout Pack/Troop #631 was reactivated in 1997-98 under Pastor Frederick A. Wright.

Today, the Boy Scouts Program continues with support from Pastor Gerald A. Cooper, the Wayman Church Family, friends, and community.

Council Membership

Wayman Boy Scouts Pack/troop #631 is part of the Miami Valley Council Boy Scouts of America, Sun Watch District. The Miami Valley Council Office and Scout Shop is located at 7825 Poe Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 4541

Leadership

Boy Scouts of America prepares young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Scouting uses a fun program to promote character development, citizenship training, self-reliance, dependent, friendship, and personal fitness for every member. As of 2018, the Boy Scout Organization changed and welcomed girls into the organization. There are guidelines for girls coming into scouting. The age range for Cub Scouts (5-11), Boy Scouts (11-18), and Venturing Scouts (14-21).

Activities

The boys participate in community activities such as the Dayton Metro Parks Clean-up, Grave Decorating at National Cemetery, TechFest Dayton, Wayman Church Community Day outreach, and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Observance March. The Boys also decorate, prepare and stuff Christmas stockings for their annual project which are shared with families in need from the Dayton community.
