Hello 5th graders!
Here's what we're working on this week:
In lessons:
Echoing patterns using B flats, then warming up with a D minor scale and its relative minor, F Major
Listening to "In the Bleak Midwinter" (page 36), then sightreading the A part slowly with accompaniment
Describing how the first 8 measures are a "question" and "answer", then looking at the same idea quickly with "Ode to Joy" on page 46.
Reading through the "questions" on page 207 and creating individual "answers" using the D scale.
Reviewing the new section of Blues for You (which is another "question and answer"!), and playing through the long version with solos!

In orchestra:
Working hard on Toucan Tango and Stone Mountain Stomp, especially the bowing.
